John Badley has been appointed General Manager of Dalhousie Castle, in Bonnyrigg and he has big plans for this historic hotel. He takes up the reins at this leading hotel and spa after moving from Cardiff’s 5-star St David’s Hotel & Spa, where he was Deputy General Manager. John is one of the UK’s young rising stars in the hospitality sector, bringing experience and ambition with him to this key position.

Before turning his talents to hotel management, John was Chef at The Savoy in London, cooked in classic French restaurants, worked for Gordon Ramsay and served as Catering Director in Sweden.
John says “Dalhousie has a fantastic reputation in Scotland and across the UK, and I am looking forward to working with the team to really drive customer service.  We are looking to be recognised as an AA 4 red star hotel, which centres on excellence in customer service.”

“I would really like to create an environment at Dalhousie where every part of our guests’ journey has been meticulously honed to ensure that we provide the most memorable experience.”

John’s impressive track record includes being the youngest person to be awarded membership of Master Chefs of Great Britain at 27 and in 2009, he scooped an Acorn Award, known in hospitality circles as recognition for ‘the top 30 under 30’.

The hotel is being lovingly refurbished currently by owners Robert and Gina Parker, who also own Doxford Hall Hotel, Eshott Hall and Guyzance Hall in Northumberland

“As well as appealing to both national and international markets, I want to strengthen our appeal to the local market. Talking to local residents and businesses Dalhousie Castle was always well known for its medieval nights and I am hoping to re-launch these Jacobean evenings some time in the Spring. We have an exciting calendar of events in place offering some fun events at value for money prices. I hope that the Castle will be the first choice for locals for dining and family celebrations.
We hope to welcome you soon to the Castle.
